The painter's mark on the present vase may be that of Henry Joseph Mongenot (recorded 1754-1764 as a flower painter) or of Michel Soquet (recorded 1753, 1756-1754). See David Peters, Sèvres Plates and Services of the 18th century, 2005, vol. I, p. 94.

It appears to be a variant form of the 'Vase Parseval', named after the shareholder Philibert Parseval, and designed for to display fresh or crystalized fruit on the dessert table. Lazard Duvaux's Livre-journal records that, on 13 March 1753, he sold "petits vases de Vincennes pour porter des fruits".
