Terms and Conditions

All merchandise is sold “as is, where is.” Descriptions are believed to be correct but not guaranteed. We do not give refunds. The winning bidder becomes the owner of the item immediately at the close of the bid.

There is a 15% (+3% for online bidders) Buyer’s Premium for all auctions. We accept cash, approved check, Visa and MasterCard. A credit card is required for placing absentee and phone bids.

Note: Harlowe-Powell does not guarantee the condition of any coins. All condition reports are from the consignor.

Reserve Price: Some lots are offered subject to a reserve. A reserve is a confidential minimum price below which such lot will not be sold. Harlowe-Powell will act to protect the reserve by bidding through the auctioneer. The auctioneer may open the bidding on any lot below the reserve by placing a bid on behalf of the Seller and may continue to bid on behalf of the Seller up to the amount of the reserve.

Absentee Bids: Please remember this is a live auction. Just because you have left an absentee bid for a certain amount does not mean you will ultimately win the item if it is sold at that amount. Our auctioneer takes bids from all parties including live floor bidders, phone, and on-line bidders. We try to ensure that all bids are represented equally.

The highest qualified Bidder recognized by the Auctioneer shall be the buyer. Auctioneer’s decision and declaration of the winning Bidder shall be final and binding upon all Bidders. Bids properly offered, whether by floor bidder or other means of bidding, may on occasion be missed or go unrecognized; in such cases, the Auctioneer may declare the recognized bid accepted as the winning bid, regardless of whether a competing bid may have been higher.

Contract: Your bid is a contract. Place a bid only if you’re serious about buying the item. If you are the successful bidder, you have entered into a legally binding contract to purchase the property bid on. You should contact the seller to resolve any questions before bidding. We are a small auction house and need to ship things quickly to make room for new items coming in. Please complete your transactions with us promptly so that you can pick your items up or we can have them shipped to you quickly! (Please see our “Pick Up” policies page to avoid incurring storage fees.)

Shipping: Buyers pay all shipping, insurance and packaging supply costs. We do not have a shipping and handling department in the gallery, therefore arranging shipping with a third party is the buyer’s responsibility. PLEASE NOTE! Shipping furniture is expensive! Please do not bid on large items unless you are willing to pay their transport. Shippers can often give you an estimate before you place your bid. We recommend an excellent local company for shipping:
