Condition/Details: Bound in full leather with name of John Crouse in bright embossed gilt lettering on front cover, this antique volume is a scarce memorial book still in its original cloth-bound wooden encasing. This edition was "intended for private circulation only." John Crouse was prominent in the wholesale grocery business and banking, and also a great benefactor to what would become Syracuse University. The book includes a detailed description of the funeral services: "The casket was of cedar, copper-lined, with an inner lining of tufted velvet." The work is illustrated with a tissue-guarded frontispiece portrait. The volume shows light external age/wear, and is solidly bound with clean, gilt-edged pages. Covers of case are beginning to peel.
