Nantucket, probably late 19th century The largest oval in form with tapering rounded sides above a conforming solid base, the lip with single swing handle; the next with integral fingered handles at either short end, and the smallest with swing handle 91/2in. high (with handle), 113/4in. wide, 81/2in. deep (the largest) (3) NOTES According to tradition, these three baskets descended in the family of Sidney Starbuck, Nantucket, MA. Sidney Starbuck (1841-1910) was the grandson of Joseph and Sally Starbuck and son of George and Elizabeth Starbuck. In 1837, Joseph Starbuck built three houses on Main Street for his sons; George and Elizabeth lived with their seven children in the west house. The baskets were left to the present owner by Sidney's widow.
