Description: A good mid 19th century Canton carved and stained ivory chess set, modelled as opposing Chinese armies, King approx 5.5ins
Condition Report:
Generally quite good condition.
Slight loss to pierced top of white Kings headdress, minor.
Both white knights missing two of their three arrows.
Both white rooks - riders missing crops from hands
White otherwise good, some slight yellowing and some very slight hairline cracks.
Red side also in generally good condition, some loss of red staining on rubbing surfaces.
One red rook missing riding crop
One red knight missing two arrows from quiver, the other missing all three arrows.
One slight chip to sword of one pawn, two red pawns missing swords. overall set has numerous minute insignificant chips and knocks consistent with age.
