Description: A 1930's silver trophy modelled as three standing greyhounds supporting a circular dish, engraved 'Wimbledon Stadium Friday 26th November 1937' also the winners names, the whole raised on a circular flat base and mounted on a wooden plinth. Hallmarked Charles Boyton London 1937. Max diameter measures 10 inches (25.5 cm).
Condition: Overall the trophy appears in good condition, there are general scratches, marks and tarnishing, currently no engraving. The dish to the top is detachable and shows some more wear with numerous dints and bumps, the full engraving reads ' Wimbledon Stadium, Friday 26th November 1937, the 8th Wimbledon Moderate Stayers Plate, Won by, Mr. Albert Greenall's Poetic Boy, 700 yards time 41.93 seconds, Trained by Mr H. Harvey of Harringay. The pins mounting the silver to the wooden plinth are missing or need realigning. The wood shows some more obvious signs of wear to the varnish/finish, also some dints and deterioration. The hallmarks are clear and legible.
