Condition/Details: This antique two-volume set, bound in marbled boards with three quarter leather, is a scarce early description of life in Mexico, written after the author's own experiences in Mexico. The books cover a variety of aspects of Mexican life, with details on travel, its society, domestic matters, religion and cathedrals, amusements and entertainment, government, hunting, work, ancient culture and more. The works are illustrated with drawings by the author. The ex-library volumes show some external age/wear, with rubbing along the board edges and corner and the spine has been rebacked with maroon tape. The volumes are solidly bound with age toned pages, with occasional spotting and some water markings. The book measures approximately 5" x 7.75".
