  News Release:
  
  At Murray’s Antique & Fine Art Auction on the evening of Friday 25th February, Lot 163 a Mid 18thCentury Chinese porcelain Jardinière made a staggering £520,000 plus buyer’s premium.
  
  The Qianlong (chenlong) jardinière with ‘Doucai’ (Dookie) decoration estimated at £40,000 – 60,000 is very commercial at present and a favourite with Chinese buyers. The biggest three Chinese art dealers for London flew in on the previous Wednesday and viewed the jardinière.
  
  The staff manned six telephones, booked in advance by Chinese trade bidders from Hong Kong and London. As Murray Keefe, the Auctioneer, started to sell the jardinière the sale room was silent in anticipation. The bidding started at £10,000 quickly rising to £300,000 with a bid from a Chinese agent in the saleroom. You could have heard a pin drop as the bidding slowed down and bidders dropped out at £450,000. After 10 minutes, the jardinière was bid to half a million pounds by a top London based Chinese dealer, only to be out-bid by a Chinese lady bidding on the telephone from Hong Kong.
  
  The auctioneer asked the staff member to confirm the price to the lucky bidder - £520,000 – with the reply from Hong Kong “please tell him to put the hammer down, please, please!” The auctioneer put the hammer down to a great round of applause.

  The Auctioneer regrets that if you are not known to him or have not established a satifactory credit rating with the auctioneer, proof of credit worthiness will be required to accept bids and/or release lots purchased. Payment by credit or debit cards will not be accepted. 12.5% Buyer's Premium on the hammer price. Invoices of lots purchased will be avaliable after the lot is sold.
  
  Bidding by email no later than 1 pm on Saleday.
  
  All lots must be paid for and collected on the Sale day. The auction should be finished by 9:00 pm.
  
  Shipping: Murray’s will pack and post small items or arrange a carrier to the UK and abroad
  
  If you wish to bid at the auction, please register and collect your bidding number during viewing.
  
  If you cannot attend the auction but wish to leave a bid, you may do so by completing a bidding slip requesting the Auctioneer to bid on your behalf.
