Lot 4: AMERICAN SCHOOL, 19TH CENTURY EDWARD DICKINSON BAKER

inscribed TS and 1861 on the reverse, oil on canvas. 24 by 20 in. 61 by 50.8 cm. Edward Dickinson Baker, an Illinois Congressman and later a Senator from Oregon, was killed in the Civil War at Bulls Bluff, Virginia in 1861.
