Lot 20: L20 ANTIQUE VTG BANQUET LAMP THE MILLER LAMP KEROSENE 37 INCHES FIGURAL CHERUB

Description: Offered for your consideration this Antique Kerosene figural Cherub Banquet Lamp, titled the Miller Lamp, standing 37 inches tall, with a E Miller Co Flame spreader, circa 1890s and 1970s. This Lamp is a marriage , the base up to the font is by the Accurate Casting co , they operated out of China from 1972 to the mid 1980s and made castings to enhance lamps that were being restored in Europe and the United States, the ball shade is a satin cased glass piece probably 1960s , but the font and the flame spreader are originals from the 1890s and here is where the value lies. They both bear the proper markings, the font bears THE MILLER LAMP The barley twist shaft is made up of many moving parts which cause the arm to rise and fall as the external wheel is turned. This allowed for accurate wick adjustment thus flame height and brightness and overcame the problem of the wick slipping while in use and the flame spreader is from the same time period, see pictures for marks. These lamps were designed to go in the center of a dinner table, and be high enough to both shed light on the food and diners, and not be an obstacle to seeing across the table.

Description: This silver collared Scent Bottle from 1910 has lost its top but is such a delightful piece that we are sure you will want to take it home. A creative alternate use would be as a room scent bottle for bedroom or bathroom. The bottle is a cut crystal in a diamond and star block pattern with a tall silver plated collared neck. The silver top has British Registry markings indicating this is Birmingham Silver Plate circa 1909-1910. The initials HP&S for Henry Perkins & Sons. Aside from the missing stopper, the bottle is in very good condition, it is foggy inside, we did not try to clean it up but you can. Measures 6.75 inches high.
