With thread margins or trimmed on the plate mark. A very good, dark impression of this scarce engraving, with strong contrasts. Bartsch 9; Lehrs 19.

Description: MARTIN SCHONGAUER The Crucifixion. Engraving, circa 1480. 164x113 mm; 6 5/8x4 1/2 inches. Small bull's head watermark (Briquet 15160, which he dates to Colmar circa 1475). Ex-collection the Albertina, Vienna (Lugt supplement 5, verso). From the Passion. With thread margins or trimmed on the plate mark, expertly repaired vertical tear right edge, through the figure of St. John, which is visible mainly on the verso. A very good, early impression of this scarce engraving. Bartsch 17; Lehrs 27.

Description: ANDREA MANTEGNA Bacchanal with Silenus. Engraving, circa 1475-80. 290x421 mm; 11 1/2x16 5/8 inches. Trimmed inside the plate mark with most of the composition and all of the figures preserved, scattered well-repaired tears. A good impression of this extremely scarce, early engraving. We have found only 5 other impressions at auction in the past 25 years. Hind 3.
