TWO DAY AUCTION: SATURDAY, May 22, 2010 - 11:00 AM and SUNDAY, May 23, 2010 - 11:00 AM. This may prove to be our most important auction to date, don't miss this one!

Sale Notes:

Taking center stage on Day One is artwork by Andrew Wyeth, Montague Dawson, Charles Warren Eaton, Erastus Salisbury Field, Percy Sanborn, plus Russian artists Ivan Konstantinovich Aivazovsky and Vasily Grigoryevich Perov. Rare and early Canton enamel dishes and Ming Dynasty Tomb Figures are just a portion of the Oriental treasures being offered. Included in a nice selection of modern and vintage firearms is an extremely rare Japanese Imperial award grade match lock musket, ca. 1635 and an early silver repousse ceremonial belt & cartridge box from the Ottoman Empire. A Louis XV two-part table d'accouchee, circa 1755, a 19th c. rosewood and porcelain Oriental screen, an 18th c. Queen Anne cherry highboy, and a beautiful collection of French gilt formal furniture only begin to describe the fine furniture being offered. Carpets will include a ca. 1920 Karaja, a ca. 1920 Heriz, a ca.1930 Heriz and a palace size Kerman, 50 carpets in all. This day also includes a rare collection of African masks, carvings and relics, a six foot carved eagle and a Cigar Store Indian. Lot 1: Large 2-Part Cast Brass Door Knocker Lion Head

DOOR KNOCKER - Large two-part cast brass door knocker. Round medallion with high relief lion head surrounded by an open wreath striker. 9 1/2" high, 8 3/4" wide, 3" deep, good condition.

 

Lot 2: 6'5" x 7'9" Signed Coverlet 3-Color 1840 Salona PA

COVERLET - 6'5 x 7'9" - Three color hand woven, signed and dated summer/winter coverlet, 1840, J.H. March & Co Salona, Clinton Co, PA, with eagle, good condition.

 

Lot 3: Cast Iron Boston Bulldog Terrier Figure Life Size

DOG FIGURE - Cast iron life size figure of a Boston Bulldog terrier, modeled after the Yale University mascot. 16" high, 26" long, good condition.

 

Lot 4: Cast Iron Door Stop Standing Knight English Mark

DOOR STOP - Large cast iron figural door stop in the form of a standing knight in full armor with sword and shield on oak base. Base reads 'Cap a Pied', has English registry mark on back. 36" high, 19" wide, 7" deep, good condition, black repaint.
