Description: Sealing-Wax Case (Stud-a-cire) French, ca 1776 Tapered cylindrical case of pink, green and yellow gold with removable cover. Elaborately chased in the late rococo style of Louis XVI. Surface is ornamented with flutes, husks, pendants and horizontal band of acanthus leaves. Two oval trophies of peace, one with musical attributes one with basket of fruit, crossed laurel branches and ribbon. The domed cover embossed with a deeply chased blossom. Length: 4 5/8" x 3/4". Weight: 44.9 grams.

Description: Lady's Louis XVI Nécessaire, French This octagonal gold container, with a hinged cover which is lined with burgundy velvet, holds eleven sewing tools in individual compartments which are lined with red silk. The translucent enamel side panels are ornamented with gold pellets in a symmetrical piqué posé. The gold mounts enclosing the panels (en cage) and the hinged lid and base are chased with a flat leaf/chevron pattern in the same restrained, neoclassical style of the whole box. The enamel on the lid is inset with a gold oval enclosing an elegant, foliate monogram "EA". Materials: 22 kt Gold and enamel. Dimensions: 3 7/8" x 2 9/16" x 2". Weight of item: 283.80 grams. Condition: Very good. Areas of the monogram on the lid have become raised above the enamel in which it is set. A clear adhesive has been used to reattach it. Two of the gold pique pellets are missing. The eleven accessories include: two gold spools, gold thimble, gold and mother of pearl bobbin, combination steel-tipped tweezers with a gold ear cleaning spoon on opposite end, steel penknife with mother of pearl handle, gold bodkin (with large eye for lacing), ivory memorandum book with four leaves on a pivot, pointed tool, possibly a tooth pick or an awl with "FA" engraved on gold, rounded finial, retractable pen and mechanical pencil combination, one end with pen nib, the other with a holder for graphite, scissors, Marks: Fermier General, Henry Clavel and Kalendrin.

Description: Louis XVI Gold-mounted Boîte-a-miniature/ Bonbonniere Approx. C.1786. Cylindrical glass container with a miniature painting signed "Van Blarenberghe" for Louis-Nicholas van Blarenberghe (1716 - 1794) and/or his son, Henri van Blarenberghe (1741/50 - 1826). The painting is of a classical scene, possibly The Family of Darius before Alexander) ca. 1786. Watercolor and gouache on vellum. Height 1". Diameter 2 1/2". Weight:78.95 grams.
