Lot 401: A SMALL NAIVE OIL ON BOARD DEPICTING A 19TH CENTURY HOMESTEAD
Unsigned, possibly New York or Nantucket. The main house with a sperm whale-shaped lightning rod, the barn with a dog(?)-form weather vane, the barn further with farm implements leaning against its outer walls. In what is probably the original frame.
Lot 402: A FINELY PAINTED OIL ON BOARD OF AN APPREHENSIVE PUPPY CONFRONTING A BUG
19th century. Unsigned, on the original stretchers, the corners reinforced with steel braces patented in 1883 and 1885.
Lot 403: TWO FRAMED OILS ON CANVAS OF TETHERED WORKING DOGS
Probably English, within elaborate frames, the terrier ratters at work, signed, l.r. and l.l.c. E. Armstrong>.
