Description: ATTRIBUTED TO CHARLES BEAUBRUN & HENRÍ BEAUBRUN (french 1604-1692, french 1603-1677) PORTRAIT OF A NOBLE LADY HOLDING A MODEL OF CATHEDRAL, PROBABLY NOTRE DAME Oil on canvas, laid on panel 47 1/8 x 38 5/8 in. (119.7 x 98.1cm) provenance: Private Collection, California.

Condition Report: This painting has an old glue lining from which there is some detachment. A large vertical distortion is seen at the top center and may result from the painting having been folded at some point. The painting has heavy craquelure and some paint loss from flaking paint. Under UV there is a heavy green fluorescence indicating a natural resin varnish. There are areas of retouching on the upper section, some dots on the proper left forearm and adjacent costume as well as areas of retouching in the lower left. The figure and costume appear to be in good condition though dirty. Some retouching may be masked by the heavy varnish. Descriptions provided in both printed and on-line catalogue formats do not include condition reports. The absence of a condition statement does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition or completely free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of aging. Interested bidders are strongly encouraged to request a condition report on any lots upon which they intend to bid, prior to placing a bid. All transactions are governed by Freeman's Conditions of Sale.
