Description: An Antique Pair of Classical Bronzes featuring a 19th century edition of the god Mercury, after the famous sculpture by Jean de Bologne 1564, and the goddess Fortuna. Mercury: the patron god of medicine and healing, just one of the deity's many roles in mythology, Fortuna, the Roman goddess of hope, prosperity and increase. The winged Mercury poised on one foot, supported by a Zephyr, Fortuna also poised on one foot, supported by a water wheel and supporting a cornucopia in one arm, an olive branch in the other raised arm. Each raised on a matching slate pedestal circular base. Note: some faults inc. some loss to Mercury's pedestal base and the entwined serpent staff loose from the body. Solder to the base of the olive branch.
