Description: A scratch built, approximately 2 inch scale, live steam model portable agricultural engine, circa 1900, of overtype design, with single cylinder, brass drain cock, eccentric driven steam valve, cross-head guides, open crank with spoked flywheel and brass oiler cups, side mounted eccentric driven boiler feed pump, clack valve, chimney rest bracket, fitted speed governor, boiler with pressure gauge, sight glass and safety valve, standing on cast gun metal spoked wheels, finished in green and black paintwork with polished brightwork.View additional info »
Description: A 2 inch scale model of a Burrell Gold Medal steam tractor, built by Mr R. Gray of Worthing to Malcolm Frost designs with castings by MJ Engineering of Ringwood, the two speed general purpose engine of twin compound design with a copper boiler, the fittings including a water gauge, pressure gauge, safety valve, blower, clack and blowdown valves, the drain cocks operated from the cab, with copper pipework, mechanical lubricator, crosshead guides, Stephenson's link reverse, eccentric driven feed pump and bypass, solid flywheel with wooden block brake, and Pickering type governor, the chassis details including spoked straked wheels with rubber road tyres, worm and roller chain steering, damper, cable drum with fairleads, hand brake to back wheels, fitted belly tanks and supported canopy, finished in green and black paintwork with polished brightwork, 74cm (29 inches) long.
