Description: *Fine pair large late nineteenth century / early twentieth century Chinese porcelain fish bowls strongly potted with rounded sides and flattened rims. The bodies painted in mirror image in grisaille with leafy branches bearing large peony blossoms on an Imperial yellow ground, with iron-red Dayazhai character mark enclosed within oval medallion with dragon border. The rims painted with bats on carved hardwood stands with inset marble tops, on paw feet. The bowls 47.5cm high, 54.5cm diameter, the stands 46cm high - 93.5cm high overall One bowl in good overall condition The other has several long breaks which have been riveted, then the rivets removed, filled and the cracks consolidated The base has been re-madeView additional info »
