Condition Report: approximately a 2 inch dent on the shaft of the pen near the point. Some slight bends at the point. Surface flaking and seam separation at point. Description: PORTRAIT OF THREE CHILDREN (AMERICAN SCHOOL, MID 19TH CENTURY). Oil on canvas, unsigned. The oldest, a girl in print dress, holds out an apple to the youngest boy dressed in white, the other boy in blue holds his cap. All three are wearing gold and coral jewelry, the boys having coral roping on their sleeves. In original gilt frame, 30.75.h. 35.25"w. Sold at Garth's, September 4, 1992, lot 281.
Condition Report: Cleaned, with approximately 50% inpainting done in at least three stages. Most of the inpainting is in the bottom left and includes the two children on the left and part of the face of the child on the right. There is a 1/2"l. tear above the head of the child on the right. Description: CHIPPENDALE TALL CHEST OF DRAWERS. Pennsylvania, late 18th century, cherry, pine and poplar. Ogee feet, dovetailed case, fluted quarter columns, three over two over four dovetailed drawers with edge beading and cove molded cornice. Full dust shelves between drawers. Original brasses. Retains old dark surface. Minor imperfections. 64"h. 43.75"w. 22.75"d.
Condition Report: Minor age crack in one end and cornice has minor edge damage. Feet have nailed repairs. Bottom inscription " remodeled June the 28, 1913. G.H. Lower Nazareth, PA." probably refers to the renailing and minor repair to feet. Feet facing are repaired with original pieces and there is minor regluing on the blocking.
