Biography

(b Brussels, 9 June 1836; d Ixelles [now in Brussels], 9 Jan 1896). Belgian painter. He first worked as a house painter, running his own painting and decorating business from 1855 on. Although he was essentially self-taught, he appears to have been influenced by Périclès Pantazis, whom he employed in his business.
