Biography

(b Florence, 22 Nov 1472; d Seville, July or August 1528). Italian sculptor. He is famous both as the man who broke Michelangelo’s nose and as the Florentine artist who is generally credited with introducing the Italian Renaissance style to England. He was a brilliant and versatile sculptor and also one of the first Italian Renaissance artists to work in France, the Netherlands, Spain and perhaps Portugal.
