William Ronald Biography

(b Stratford, Ont., 13 Aug 1926). Canadian painter. He graduated from the Ontario College of Art, Toronto, in 1951. In October 1953 he organized a group exhibition, Abstracts at Home , for a Toronto department store, the Robert Simpson Company; this led to the formation in November 1953 of the PAINTERS ELEVEN. Ronald moved to New York in 1954, exhibiting at the Kootz Gallery from 1957 to 1963, but settled again in Toronto in 1965.
