Adam Pynacker Biography

(b Schiedam, nr Rotterdam, ?1620; d Amsterdam, bur 28 March 1673). Dutch painter and merchant. In both style and subject-matter, Pynacker belongs to the group of Netherlandish artists known as the DUTCH ITALIANATES. His earliest paintings, for example Buildings from the Ripa Grande, Rome (Cambridge, Fitzwilliam), show a first-hand knowledge of the Italian terrain, the subject of almost his entire output.
