Martin’,
he
was
one
of
England’s
most
significant
19th-century
painters
of
sublimely
Romantic
themes.
Many
of
his
canvases
are
extremely
large
in
scale,
which
enhances
their
tremendous
visual
impact.
He
often
made
prints,
notably
mezzotints,
from
his
paintings.
