Charles Drew Cahoon Biography
(b Harwich, Massachusetts, 1861; d Harwich, 1951) American painter. Cahoon is known for his detailed, peaceful interpretations of Cape Cod’s landscapes and seascapes primarily featuring fishing scenes and dilapidated homes. Cahoon was greatly successful, with a Boston studio and creating approximately 3000 paintings, until the stock market crashed in 1929. Although continuing to work, he never fully regained his preliminary success.
