Cristofano Allori Biography

(b Florence, 17 Oct 1577; d Florence, 1 April 1621). Son of (1) Alessandro Allori. He became one of the foremost Florentine artists of the early Baroque period, also winning renown as a courtier, poet, musician and lover. Baldinucci’s biography suggests a complex character, ardent, devoutly religious and obsessively perfectionist.
